Microbiological Evaluation

Capacity Tests

The effectiveness of Superquat was evaluated by the State Health Laboratories using the test prescribed by the Therapeutic Goods Act (T.G.A.).

Tests were performed against four test organisms under “dirty” and “clean” conditions in accordance with the above technique. Superquat was found to pass in every way at dilutions of 1:80 and 1:150 in dirty and clean conditions respectively. Full details of the test are attached.

 

Features and Benefits

1. Superquat has broad spectrum activity. It is equally effective against gram-positive and gram-negative organisms.
2. It is fungicidal and bactericidal.
3. Retains its bactericidal and fungicidal activity at 1:80 even in the presence of gross organic load as represented by a 2% yeast suspension.
4. Superquat’s powerful disinfection properties are unaffected by hard water containing as much as 340 ppm total hardness.
5. Unlike phenolic or chlorine disinfectants, Superquat has very little odour.
6. Superquat has no adverse effect on painted or polished surfaces.
7. Contains special corrosion inhibitors to minimize corrosion.
8. Contains a very high concentration of active ingredients, which are not significantly de-activated by absorption into surfaces and fibres.
9. Superquat is easy to use and is instantly soluble in water.
10. Solutions of Superquat are stable and may be stored for long periods without losing strength.

 

 

Use Directions

Superquat should not be mixed with cleaning aids, soaps, detergent, or any other compounds as the product will be de-activated.

Superquat should be used to disinfect and clean all hard surfaces in hospitals, surgeries, nursing homes, laboratories and institutions. In “dirty” applications listed below, the recommended dilution of 12 millilitres of Superquat per litre of water affords disinfection of the following:

• drainage bottles

• furniture
• intensive care units
• instruments prior to sterilisation
• isolation rooms
• operating theatres
• post mortem rooms

• urine bottles
• walls

 

In maintaining clean areas by spray and wipe techniques, use 6 mLs of Superquat for each litre of water.
